The following information has come from the BEF and all riders should pay particular attention to the detail contained in these documents in relation to human anti-doping. The following documents show National and International riders whether they need to apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption or whether they need to make a Declaration of Use for substances that they may be using.

Endurance GB Selection Policy as from October 2010
Objective
To choose the British Endurance Team and provide the preparation that will achieve the best possible results for Great Britain at the relevant Championships. In addition talented combinations will be identified and wherever possible given the opportunity to progress through competing internationally.
The Specific Aim of the policy
· To select a Team capable of achieving a medal position at the relevant Championship.
· To select a British Young Rider Team to deliver the best possible results for Great Britain at the relevant Championship.
Training objectives
· To be able to work as a team
· To be capable of being competitive at the relevant Championship
· To be able to ride in a group
· To be able to produce riders fit enough to compete
· To be able to produce a professional level of crewing
Selection Panel
The Selectors (3) will be appointed by the International Committee and the appointments are to be ratified by the EGB Board of Directors. The post of Selector is to be held for 4 years and one new Selector (the retiring selector may re-apply for the post) is to be appointed each year.
The Selection Panel comprises:
· The Chairman of Selectors [has a casting vote if necessary] -
· Selector
· Selector
· The Chef of the appropriate Squad
· The Vet of the appropriate Squad.
· The Chairman of International (or a nominated member of the International Committee in the event that a Family member of the Chairman is eligible for selection) in attendance but has no vote
· The Selection Panel’s decision is final

Selection Process
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for selection riders must adhere to the following:
· Be a British Citizen
· Be registered with the FEI
· Be qualified for the competition as required by the FEI
· Be satisfactorily assessed by the Squad Management Team at a UK venue
Horse must also be qualified see article 816.3 FEI regulations
Preparation
All riders that make themselves available for selection are expected to contribute to the aim of maximising their, and their Team’s, performance at the Championships. This will include:
· Attending Squad sessions in the UK.
· Assisting other riders through the benefit of their own experience.
· Communication.
· Competition planning.
· Behaviour and attitude at and before the Championships.
· Seeking to improve performance at every opportunity.
This attitude towards maximising performance may be used as a consideration when selection is made.
Weighting factors to be considered
· Results from FEI Competitions taking into consideration: the number of starters and finishers. The speed of completion in relation to that of the winners. The terrain over which the competition was run. Occasions when failure was due to metabolic reasons.
· Capability of riding in a group and to orders
· Efficiency and adaptability of crew
Force Majeure
If for some reason beyond the National Governing Bodies control e.g. collapse of funding, disease outbreak in horses or humans, war or Terrorism, unavailability of suitable horses and/or riders EGB Board of Directors with advice from the International Committee might make the decision either to change the selection policy or procedure which might include withdrawing the British Team.
Timetable for selection
Selection of combinations to an Elite Squad will take place at the latest early in the year of competition. These will work together to prepare for the Championship. Final Selection of the Team and reserves will take place, when possible, 12 weeks prior to the Championship.
The selectors reserve the right to bring into the Elite Squad qualified combinations that show particularly good form and performance and also to drop combinations whose form and/or performance deteriorate up to the final selection.
Substitution
The selectors may substitute a reserve between final selection and departure. Reasons for substitution
i) on medical advice
ii) on veterinary advice
It is the responsibility of the Chairman of Selectors to notify the appropriate personnel.
Anyone who wishes to be considered for the British Team must abide by this selection policy.

The WCPP has been developed to ensure further improvement and success at FEI Championship level. The plan is subject to continuous review and updates.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES:
- To deliver world class level performance by all British Team Squads in international competition.
- Forward Planning - Major plan events are set out in Appendix 1 to this plan
- To establish World Class Squads managed by appointed team management and to encourage EGB members to seek to join the international squads.
- To conduct on-going training, assessment and development for management, squad horses and riders, crews and other personnel involved.
- To ensure squad and team selection is conducted impartially in accordance with clear and open criteria taking account of the specific demands of each competition.
- To provide worry-free, good travel, accommodation and subsistence logistics when squads travel to competition by appointing a Team Manager for each Squad.
- To provide funding to support the WCPP by revenue from EGB income streams, and sponsorship; ensure sponsors are properly recognised, rewarded and retained.
